For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Cádiz | Baléares is the data controller for personal information collected through this website.

What we collect

We collect only what you choose to give us:

• Contact details — name, email address, phone number, and organization — when you submit a form on this site.
• Project information you provide in form fields, such as the type of work you need, timelines, and messages.
• Documents you upload for quotes or translation. These may contain sensitive personal information (for example, birth certificates, academic records, medical or financial records, or immigration documents).

We do not use advertising trackers or sell personal information. Our hosting provider (Netlify) and analytics may process standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and aggregate traffic measurement.

How we use your information

We use the information you submit to prepare quotes, perform translation and language services you request, communicate with you about your request, and meet legal and professional obligations. Where GDPR applies, our legal bases are performance of a contract (or steps taken at your request before entering one), our legitimate interest in operating and securing this website, and your consent where we ask for it — for example, the consent checkbox on our document intake form. You may withdraw consent at any time.

Documents and confidentiality

Documents you upload are used only to prepare your quote and complete your translation. They are not shared with third parties except the service providers necessary to deliver the service (described below), and are handled under professional standards of confidentiality consistent with the American Translators Association's code of ethics.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers to operate this site: Netlify (website hosting and form processing), Uploadcare (secure document upload and storage), Google Workspace (email), and Google Calendar (consultation booking). Each processes your information only to provide its service. Some providers are located in the United States; where information originates in the European Economic Area, transfers rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, as applicable to each provider.

Retention

We keep inquiry details and correspondence for as long as needed to respond to you and maintain business records. Uploaded documents are retained while a quote or project is active and deleted from active storage when no longer needed, unless you ask us to keep them for follow-up work or we are required to retain them by law. You may request deletion of your documents at any time.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents have equivalent rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know, delete, and correct; we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA, and we do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. EEA and UK residents also have the right to lodge a complaint with their supervisory authority.

Security

Documents are transferred over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to client information is limited to the people who need it to deliver your service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we treat your documents with the same care we apply to the language work itself.

Children

This website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Documents concerning minors (such as birth certificates) are accepted only from a parent, guardian, or authorized representative as part of a translation request.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and the date above.
