Certified translations

ATA-certified translations, accepted where it counts

Certified translations include a signed Certificate of Accuracy and, when applicable, an ATA certification seal.

They are commonly used for USCIS filings, green cards, visas, school admissions, universities, courts, credentialing agencies, and other institutions.

Common requests include birth and marriage certificates, academic transcripts, immigration documents, and other personal records. Accuracy, formatting, and presentation are handled with care.

For use in Spain

Sworn translations — traducción jurada

Spain requires a sworn translation — traducción jurada — for most official foreign documents. A sworn translation carries an official stamp and signature that make it legally valid throughout Spain.

Our team includes sworn translators appointed by Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAEC), so we can deliver jurada translations accepted for:

  • Student & work visas
  • Residency (residencia)
  • Spanish nationality (nacionalidad)
  • Academic recognition (homologación)
  • Civil registry & notarial procedures
  • Marriage, birth & criminal-record certificates

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will USCIS accept your certified translations?

Yes. Every certified translation includes a signed Certificate of Accuracy that meets USCIS requirements: a complete, word-for-word English translation with a certification of the translator's competency.

USCIS does not keep a list of approved translators — what matters is that the translation is complete and properly certified. Ours are prepared by an ATA-certified translator, the strongest professional credential available for this work.

What's the difference between a certified and a sworn translation?

A certified translation is used in the United States and includes a signed Certificate of Accuracy. A sworn translation — traducción jurada — is required by Spain for most official foreign documents and must be prepared by a translator appointed by Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAEC). It carries an official stamp and signature that make it legally valid throughout Spain.

We provide both. If you're not sure which you need, choose "Not sure — help me choose" in the form below and we'll guide you.

Can I translate my own documents for USCIS?

Technically, USCIS allows it if you're fluent in both languages. In practice, officers can question any translation where a conflict of interest exists — and a questioned translation can mean a Request for Evidence that delays your case by weeks or months. An independent certified translation removes that risk.

How fast can you deliver?

Most single personal documents — a birth certificate, a marriage certificate — can be delivered within 24 hours on a rush basis, and same-day is sometimes possible. Standard turnaround is typically two to three business days. Your quote will include a committed turnaround time.

Do you translate stamps, seals, and handwritten notes?

Yes. A certified translation must be complete: every word, stamp, seal, signature, and notation in the original is represented, and the formatting mirrors the original so reviewers can compare the two side by side.

Will I receive a digital copy or a hard copy?

Secure digital delivery (PDF) is standard and accepted by most institutions, including USCIS. Hard copies with wet signatures are available by mail when the receiving institution requires them.

For Spain, sworn translations with a qualified digital signature have been accepted since the MAEC authorized them in 2020 — but when a procedure requires legalization or an apostille on the translation itself, a paper original is still needed. We'll confirm what your receiving institution requires.

Do I need an apostille?

Sometimes. An apostille authenticates the original document — it's a separate step from translation, issued by a government authority, not a translator. Many procedures in Spain require the original to be apostilled before it's translated, so the sworn translation can include the apostille.

Tell us where your document will be used and we'll advise on the right order of steps.
